Hurricane Florence
09/29/2018
In September, Hurricane Florence came barreling toward Robeson County and eastern N.C. With the Category 4 storm halting on top of the state, dumping around, 24 inches of rain fell, flooding the same areas as Hurricane Matthew just 2 years prior. Freshly renovated homes were destroyed again. Rebuilt houses were ruined. Some residents settled into new areas only to have those areas destroyed, too. For the second time, neighborhoods piled their belongings by the side of the road. Some of our own staff members were experiencing the devastation directly as flood waters invaded their homes as well.

We had to do something.

On September 29th, 2018, The Staffing Alliance held a “Recovery Relief Community Cookout” to aid and support our community by providing information regarding applying for recovery resources related to Hurricane Florence. Information for FEMA and Disaster-SNAP was distributed and we also had NC Works representatives working onsite completing Disaster Unemployment Assistance applications.

We cooked and provided free lunch to all those that attended and even gave information regarding employment opportunities to those that were interested, because may lost jobs due to a myriad of circumstances surrounding the disastrous storm.

The Staffing Alliance works tirelessly to show our support for our community and we will continue to do so.
